Stainless steel perforated sheet

Stainless steel perforated sheet is a metal screen product made by punching holes of various shapes, sizes and arrangements into stainless steel sheets (coils) using precision molds and stamping equipment. It perfectly combines the excellent properties of stainless steel (corrosion resistance, high strength, and aesthetics) with the functionality of perforated structures (ventilation, light transmission, filtration, screening, and decoration).

When selecting stainless steel perforated sheets, the following key parameters need to be considered:

Common stainless steel grades used

304 / 304L — general corrosion resistance and good formability

 316 / 316L — improved resistance in chloride environments

430 — magnetic grade with good corrosion resistance

Duplex/other alloys as required for specific environments

 Standard (Base Material):ASTM A240 / A480,  EN 10088

Surface finish: 2B (cold-rolled matte), BA (bright annealed finish), N4 (brushed), etc.

Sheet Thickness

The thickness typically ranges from 0.3mm to 12mm, with common thicknesses between 0.5mm and 5mm. Thickness directly affects the product's strength, weight, and processing difficulty. Common manufacturing gauges: 0.5 mm, 1.0 mm, 1.5 mm, 2.0 mm, 3.0 mm, etc.

Hole Shape

Common hole shapes:

 Round (most common)

 Square

 Slotted/rectangular

 Hexagonal

 Decorative/custom patterns

Aperture: From micropores (below Ø0.5mm) to macropores (above Ø100mm) can be achieved,   depending on the mold and material thickness.
  Patterns:

Aperture ratio: This refers to the ratio of the sum of the areas of all holes in the perforated area to the total area of the board, usually expressed as a percentage. Aperture ratio is a key indicator determining its light transmission, ventilation, and filtration performance.

Staggered (triangular) - better open area and strength         Straight (square grid) — easier layout and fabrication

Size Specifications: Standard sheet sizes are: 1000mm x 2000mm, 1220mm x 2440mm, 1500mm x 3000mm, etc. Custom rolls or specific lengths and widths are also available upon request.

Application

The application of perforated stainless steel sheets is extremely wide, penetrating almost every industry:

Architectural Decoration and Curtain Walls:

Uses: Exterior facade sunshade panels, interior ceilings, wall decorations, railings, stair treads, screens, partitions, etc.

Advantages: Strong modern feel, can achieve light and shadow effects, and also provides ventilation and light transmission.

Environmental Protection and Machinery Industry:

Advantages: Wear-resistant, corrosion-resistant, precise aperture, high screening efficiency.

Home Appliance and Electronics Industry:

Uses: Speaker grilles, electrical ventilation and heat dissipation grilles (chassis, air conditioners, ovens), electromagnetic shielding covers, battery covers, etc.

Advantages: Good acoustic performance, ventilation and heat dissipation, and electromagnetic shielding.

Food and Medical Industry:

Uses: Food processing line conveyor belts, drying racks, medical device filters, cleanroom equipment.

Advantages: Meets hygiene standards, easy to clean and disinfect, corrosion-resistant. Agriculture and Horticulture:

Applications: Grain screening sieves, greenhouse ventilation windows, livestock and poultry cages, decorative garden fences.

Advantages: Sturdy, well-ventilated, rust-resistant.

Transportation and Security:

Applications: Car grilles, exhaust muffler covers, subway ventilation openings, security equipment filters, locker doors.

Advantages: High strength, good protection and ventilation performance.

Furniture and Home Furnishings:

Applications: Modern style furniture (tables, chairs, cabinet doors), home furnishings (trash cans, lampshades, shelves).

Advantages: Stylish design, durable.

Stainless steel perforated sheets are a highly customizable engineering material that combines functionality and aesthetics. By flexibly combining different materials, thicknesses, hole types, arrangements, and processing techniques, it can meet diverse needs ranging from heavy industrial screening to exquisite architectural decoration. When selecting, it is necessary to clearly define the core requirements of the specific application scenario (such as strength, porosity, corrosion resistance, and aesthetics) to determine the most suitable specifications.
