Brass mesh is usually made of H65 brass wire (65% copper and 35% zinc) or H80 brass wire (80% copper and 20% zinc). Brass is n alloy mainly composed of copper and zinc. At the same time, compared with pure copper, brass has stronger corrosion resistance and mechanical strength. Brass mesh is woven in plain, twill and crimped ways. Plain weave can provide uniform and stable filtering effect, while twill and crimped weave have better decorative effect.

Brass wire mesh has various specifications, ranging from low-mesh decorative mesh to high-mesh shielding filter mesh. Different mesh counts and apertures enable it to be used in different occasions. For example, 20-30 mesh brass mesh is often used for screen windows and glass interlayers, 60-70 mesh brass mesh is used to make newsprint and printing paper, 90-100 mesh brass mesh is used for typing paper, and 100-200 mesh is more used for shielding and filtering. Brass wire mesh has a wide range of uses, including porcelain printing, screening and filtering, and printing industries. Industrial oil/liquid filtration: Brass mesh is used to filter impurities in lubricating oil, fuel, hydraulic oil, and coolant (such as machine tools, engines, hydraulic systems).For example: Oil filter lining mesh, fuel system filter mesh.

Water treatment: Brass mesh filters sand, rust and other particles in tap water and industrial circulating water (suitable for neutral or weakly corrosive water). Note: Not suitable for strong acid, strong alkali or high chlorine water environment (such as swimming pool disinfection water)

Air purification/ventilation system: Brass mesh can intercept dust, fiber and other impurities in the air (such as air conditioning filter, air compressor intake filter).

Industrial smoke pretreatment: In a less corrosive environment, brass mesh is used as a primary filter layer to intercept larger smoke particles.

Chemical/Pharmaceutical/Food Industry: Screening raw materials by particle size (such as screening catalysts, powders, grains, sugar salts and other dry materials.

Ceramic Industry: Brass mesh is used for screening ceramic printing and ceramic raw materials.

Why choose brass material?

First of all, brass has moderate corrosion resistance and good stability in dry air, fresh water, oil and weak alkaline environment (a protective oxide film will form on the surface).

Secondly, brass has antibacterial properties, and copper ions have a natural antibacterial effect, which is suitable for some occasions with hygiene requirements (such as faucet filters).

In addition, brass has conductive/antistatic properties. Can avoid impurities adsorbed by static electricity during filtration, especially suitable for flammable and explosive environments (such as oil filtration).

Brass is easy to process and shape, can be bent and welded, and is suitable for complex filter structures (such as conical filter elements and special-shaped filter screens).

However, due to its material properties, brass meshes also have key limitations in usage scenarios.

For example, strong acid and alkali environments: they will corrode rapidly when encountering hydrochloric acid, nitric acid, seawater, ammonia water, etc. (zinc elements are easily dissolved).

High-temperature oxidizing environment: long-term temperatures exceeding 260°C will accelerate oxidation and brittleness (such as high-temperature flue gas filtration).

High-wear working conditions: low hardness (≈HV120), particles with high hardness are prone to wear and perforation (such as quartz sand filtration).

If the working conditions exceed the tolerance range of brass, you can consider:

More corrosion-resistant: stainless steel mesh (304/316)

More high temperature-resistant: stainless steel mesh, Inconel mesh

More wear-resistant: stainless steel mesh, alloy sintered filter element
