Recently, a South American customer came to our factory from afar to conduct a final inspection of the stainless steel mesh products that are about to be shipped.Let's first take a look at how to inspect the stainless steel mesh product in the standards of our compatriots abroad?
1. Use a micrometer to measure and inspect the warp and weft sizes of the stainless steel mesh;
2. Use a mesh meter and a vernier caliper to inspect the warp and weft mesh and mesh size of the stainless steel mesh;
3. Measure the width of the stainless steel mesh;
4. Detect the net weight of the stainless steel mesh, and select a few rolls of each specification for weighing and sampling;
5. Drop acid on the surface of the stainless steel mesh, wait for 1-2 minutes, observe the color reaction and whether the mesh is corroded after wiping;
6. Use a magnet to approach the stainless steel mesh to observe whether it is stuck;
7. Use a spectrometer to detect the chemical composition of the stainless steel mesh, observe whether the nickel and chromium components meet the standards, and whether the elements such as Mn exceed the standards.
We have actually talked a lot about the quality control and inspection methods of stainless steel mesh before, including raw material testing before production, parameter recording during production, and testing of finished stainless steel mesh, but for this test of foreign customers, we still gained a new perspective. The customer told us that in his country's market, people have different views and perceptions of stainless steel mesh. So they will use magnets and acid solutions for testing and display.
In addition to the above tests, the customer also asked for the material list of the stainless steel mill, because he imported and came into contact with many stainless steel products, and visited the production process of many steel mills in China, so he knew very well that the same 18% Cr 8% Ni stainless steel 304 wire would have different differences under different production processes of different steel mills. The customer said that he had tested stainless steel 304 products. Although Ni and Cr elements met the standards, because the steel mill simplified the production process in order to control costs, his other elements Mn and S all did not meet the standards. . So he insisted on using raw materials from large steel mills. The same stainless steel wire of stainless steel 304 will produce different qualities under different production lines of different steel mills.
During the testing process, customers also raised questions, such as why some stainless steel meshes have strong magnetism? For this question, we also gave an explanation that customers can accept and recognize.
In fact, the customer's sampling work requires the cooperation of multiple quality inspectors, which consumes a lot of energy and time, but we are still very happy to cooperate with customers to do these work, because in this market where price is king, it is rare for customers to always maintain quality, pursue, require, and evaluate their own products.
